Bedford is the county town of Bedfordshire and sits on the River Great Ouse about 21 miles east of our base at Grange Farm, straight along the A421. That puts it at the edge of the area we cover. We do work in Bedford, Kempston, Great Denham and Wixams, but we are honest that it is a longer drive for us than Newport Pagnell or Olney, so we plan Bedford jobs carefully rather than promising to be there in minutes. Kempston, across the Great Ouse from Queens Park, is a town in its own right with Victorian streets near Bedford and later suburbs behind. Great Denham started as a golf village in the 1990s and became its own parish in 2007, and Wixams has been going up on the old Elstow depot site south of town since 2009.
